Traditional methods

We only use the traditional ways of painting, using brush and rollers.

Our project managers will advise on the different forms of preparation that might be optional or essential for an interior painting. These might include measures such as sealing the walls to eradicate mould and fungal growth, for example, a process that might be followed by few coats applied.

Eco-Friendly paints

There has been a huge rise in Environmentally-Friendly products in recent years. PSS Ltd has embraced these changes and we are happy to say that these products now account for 90% of the materials we supply.

About Eco-Friendly paints

Eco-Friendly and Organic paints, oils, waxes, and varnishes are products that only tend to contain natural raw materials. Solvent-free, they don’t cause the irritation or the serious health problems with which some older, more traditional materials have been associated. Naturally enough, the Organic and Eco-Friendly alternatives are also much kinder to the planet.

One area in which compromise remains inevitable is in the occasional use of tiny amounts of a synthetic, lead-free drier, since there is currently no natural alternative available. This drier constitutes less than 0.3% of the total volume of the product and is only used where necessary in some wood finishes. Importantly, the Eco-Friendly group of products tend to be free of Volatile Organic Compound (VOC); a solvent particularly common in traditional paints and protective coatings. These products require solvents in order to enable the even spreading of a protective or decorative film.

With approximately 12 billion litres of paint produced every year, there’s the potential for an awful lot of VOC in the environment. The term VOC refers to certain chemical compounds that have significant vapour pressures that can affect the environment.
